How to help your skin in this dry, winter air

posted January 6, 2016, 7:08 PM

We were fooled early this winter with those mild days in November because now, the cold, dry air is here! Dry air affects everything; our nose, our eyes and of course, our skin. What are we supposed to do? I asked some of the skin professionals at Bare Body Shop what products they are using to combat their dry skin this winter.

Megan was quick to reply. She just started using Firming Night Treatment by Revision this week and loves it. She was happy to report that she is seeing and feeling a difference already today. Key ingredients like shea butter (conditions and smoothes), ceramide 3 (hydrates), sodium hyaluronate (acts as a binding agent to keep water in your skin) and bisabolol (soothes your skin) are ideal for dry, winter skin and were a quick fix for Megan.

Mandy and Angela both responded with TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream from SkinMedica. Designed to restore your skin’s own natural moisture balance, it uses the key ingredient hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA (ceramide) to maintain moisture and enhance texture. Mandy was also quick to point out that she has oily skin that dries out in the winter. This helps her by bringing a healthy balance to her skin without making her skin feel “extra oily”. While popular for post-procedure skin, it can be used year round for dry, damaged skin.

When I asked Andrea, she said her “go to” product to beat the dryness is Dermal Repair Cream by SkinMedica. This is a heavier moisturizer and meant for that really dry, damaged skin. The key ingredients are hyaluronic acid (found naturally in your skin to restore moisture) and squalane (prevents your skin from losing water).

There you have it. Straight from the experts. If interested in learning more about products for your skin, visit the Bare Body Shop website to see our product selection or call for a FREE skin care consultation.
